About Us
OUR ORIGINS, AND WHERE WE WANT TO GO
Our story begins in 1975 in Ghana, West Africa, where our founder was born and raised. Surrounded by a rich tapestry of tradition, culture, heritage, and pride in her formative years, she grew up with a deep sense of self and style imparted by her grandmother and collective village. Adorned in childhood with the rich authenticity of Ghanaian beads, she became fascinated with bead making and its stylistic implications. Fast forward to 2021, when Jewels By Afia was created to bring these timeless works of art to our American friends in the diaspora. Since its inception, JBA has fulfilled over 3000 orders on our beaded jewelry collection! This inspires us, as we continue to expand and evolve to meet our customer’s needs. We also like to keep up with current jewelry trends, and so we introduced our fashion jewelry collection about a year ago. As we continue to grow, we look forward to expanding our reach from e-commerce to retail stores and beyond. Our ultimate goal is to make JBA a household name, known for high quality, exquisitely unique jewelry.
GIVING BACK
By sourcing our beaded jewelry collection directly from Ghanaian artisans, we are supporting
female economic development in the developing country. Bead making is a means of livelihood
for many families and their extended families.
