TIPS AND TRICKS FOR PRESERVING YOUR BEADED JEWELRY

Handcrafted by skilled artisans, beaded jewelry is available in a variety of shapes, sizes, textures, and durability. And although they may seem invincible, not taking care of them will deprive you of the longevity of these beauties.
Here are a few tips and tricks to preserve your beaded jewelry:

Handling
Since beads are dense, they may seem unbreakable. Keep in mind that glass and even stone beads will break depending on the intensity of impact with another surface. When putting on and taking off your beaded bracelets, gently slide them on and off instead of stretching and yanking them off, especially if they are made with a stretchy elastic band. This will prevent the band from breaking and your beads flying off. Use the same gentle approach when wearing beaded necklaces, earrings, anklets, or waist beads.

Storage
How you store your beaded jewelry is ultimately at your discretion. However, whether you hang, box, or lay your pieces flat, be careful where you store your pieces. Do your best to not mix them with metal chains and other types of jewelry to avoid tangling and damage. Store them in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Heavy stone beaded pieces should be laid flat or placed on a mannequin for storage.

Cleaning
If you want your majestic pieces to maintain their luster and shine, store them properly and clean them on occasion. Do not use abrasive or harsh cleaning agents like alcohol, acid, vinegar, or ammonia. If your pieces have metal spacers or charm accents, the harsh agents will tarnish these along with the beads. Clean your pieces with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap. You may use a soft brush where needed to get a more detailed cleaning. Wipe off any residue with a dry cloth. If your beads get wet, it’s ok. Just wipe them down immediately with a dry cloth.

Safety
Beads can be a safety hazard for young children. Keep your beaded pieces away from them to avoid accidental choking or swallowing.
